The Pianist

I will tell you about The Pianist which is produced by Roman Polanski. The film won the Palme d’Or at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Awards for Best Director, Best Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay. This film is based on things that Władysław Szpilman experienced in Warsaw. When Nazi Germany goes to war against Poland, He is a famous Polish Jewish pianist working at Warsaw radio. Nazi Germany occupy Warsaw and Jews are forced to live in a ghetto by them. Jews’ life is threatened. One day SS take Jews to a concentration camp, but he escapes thanks to his friend. He is engaged in forced labor in ghetto. When he come out of ghetto in order to buy food and see an old friends, he determines to escape from ghetto. After he escaped, Warsaw Uprising happens. As a result, Warsaw is in ruins. When he lives alone in Warsaw, he is discovered and forced to play the piano by an officer of Germany. The officer comes regularly to give him foods. The Second World War ends shortly afterwards.

I think it is very marvelous that the misery of the war contrasted sharply with the grace of the piano.

Panda! Go, Panda!

It is Japanese animated film and was created by Hayao Miyazaki. This story is very peaceful. Mimiko who is a little girl live a single life. When she came home, there is a panda speaking Japanese. A few minutes later his father also came. Two pandas come here to go to a clump of bamboo. Mimiko and two pandas live together as family. One day a policeman come to see her and is surprised by seeing pandas. Astonishingly, they seem to have escaped from zoo. The director of the zoo try to take them back to the zoo, but the panda who is child is missing. That is why everyone searches for him. When they find him, he is nearly drowned. His father rescues him and it comes to a happy ending.

Now, I will tell you about 21. I recently saw this movie. This is starred by Jim Sturgess, Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne, Aaron Yoo, Liza Lapira, Josh Gad and Jacob Pitts. This is based on the fact that MIT Blackjack Team did. I will talk about the plot of 21. A MIT student work part-time to prepare for an entrance fee of Harvard Medical School. A professor notices that he has a talent for figures and invite him to join MIT Blackjack Team. The purpose of this team is to earn money by playing blackjack in Las Vegas. To my regret, this team plays foul to win games. He earns money to play blackjack in Las Vegas. The professor gives up on him because he plays blackjack without restraint. He is robbed of his property by the professor and takes revenge on him.
